A recent government press release showing the continuity of Baliga. Baliga has never had a formal constitution but several key documents, and precedents link the three 'eras' of Baliga together.
I have always seen my macronational life as more important than my micronational life. This is how it should be. Micronationalism is a hobby, after all, and it should not be pursued to your detriment.
Due to some personal reasons, in early 2025 I decided to take a break from micronationalism. In other words, Baliga was leaving the community for a period of time. Since returning to the community in full capacity in early September, I have learned that some myths have arisen in my absence. This is partly my own fault; I should have been more clear with the timeline that things would happen in. It has been a stressful few months, and a few times I have said I might quit the hobby due to this stress, which was not a productive thing to say.
However, I am shocked to learn that, despite me objecting to the decision clearly, another micronation—one we saw as a friendly nation—has decided to claim that they are the owners of Baliga. In this article, I will not put a name to the claimant, as I believe they did this for attention, and I would rather not give it to them. To clear things up, on the 16th of September I conducted an opinion poll. I found out that, out of the 7 Baligans who answered in the allotted time, 100% of them believe that we should not be run by this micronation and believe we are still independent. Baliga has a population of 15, so this accounts for a large section of our population.
So clearly, our population believes that we do not belong to another nation. I think this alone should be able to settle it. This is why we are not considering a deal or reconciliation, as that only benefits nations hostile to our own. I was not even going to write this article until I worked out how far the rot had spread.
To the nation that claims us: you don't. I know you don't, Baligans know you don't, and you know you don't. To all of the other nations in the community: Baliga is strong, we are growing steadily. I implore you to show your support. We need to make it so you can take a break from the community and come back without having to deal with someone claiming the nation you worked so hard on. It doesn't feel nice, I can tell you that.
Thank you for reading this. If you want to read more I have attached a government press release bellow.
